May 14th – Distinguished Lecturer Chris Mathis
Hello Cedar Valley ASHRAE!
Our final meeting of the 2018 - 2019 ASHRAE year will be held on Tuesday, May 14th. We are excited to host Chris Mathis as an ASHRAE distinguished lecturer. He will present two topics for a total of 3 PDHs. The titles of the topics are shown in the schedule below and additional descriptions and presenter bio are in the documents below.
3:30 - 4:00 Sign In/Registration at Cedar Ridge Winery near Swisher, IA
4:00 - 6:00 Why Buildings Matter and the Role of ASHRAE 90.1 (2.0 PDH)
6:05 - 6:35 Social Break - Drinks and Dinner
6:35 - 7:35 The Challenge of Sustainability(1.0 PDH)
This seminar brings into focus the critical role of our buildings, and our challenges at delivering better performance. We will also cover some building and energy code “fundamentals” which applies to consulting engineers as well as to owners, architects, code officials and local policy makers. We are challenging our members to “bring a guest” – especially a guest outside of their normal engineering disciplines. “Bring your own Architect, Owner, Contractor” since we all need to be on the same page when we get to a project meeting. We will then segue from the energy code basics of the first topic to “How do we do better than code?” This should also be attractive to our Owners, Architects, and Contractor colleagues, as well as the local green building community. In this talk we will challenge some of the notions about what constitutes a “green building” and what it means to be truly sustainable.
Cost to attend, which includes dinner, is $30 for Cedar Valley Chapter members and $50 for non-members. Please fill out the attached RSVP form and return to Tim Lentz (firstname.lastname@example.org) by noon on Thursday, May 2nd. Payments ahead of time are appreciated, but will also be accepted onsite (cash and check). If you plan to pay at the door, please go ahead and send in your RSVP.
Information about Chris can be found here.
Thanks and we hope to see you at our final event of the year!
